Myka's So-Called Life: Surviving With Fibro

THIS IS
MY STORY
As a child, I loved running through the fields of my school doing cartwheels, going to gymnastics class and all the fun things children could do. One day, as I was working on my back handspring, my body felt heavy. It was like having weights dropped on you unexpectedly. I was very active so the pains I felt seemed to be from climbing trees, gymnastics, or any number of activities I enjoyed doing. That was when my hands started swelling for unknown reasons and we started asking doctors what was going on. It took us years of different doctors and tests before one doctor sat down and explained Fibromyalgia. This was something he did not want to except for an eleven-year-old. This was where I finally had a name for the "thing" that had changed my life.
Today there is so much Fibromyalgia information and misinformation, that it is still confusing. FIbromyalgia Savvy's hope is to bring information and some little tricks to help. In my blog, I will discuss symptoms, diagnosis, little tricks to make things easier, and how to explain or discuss Fibromyalgia with friends, family, and doctors. Remember it is not easy for them either. Come follow me on a journey of how to empower yourself and take charge of Fibromyalgia. I may have Fibro, but it does not have me!
